If you’re down and out on your skin, you’ve come to the right place.
Here’s a little peek into my journey...
I could never properly answer the question “what do you want to be when you grow up?”. I wanted to be and do SO many things! Even throughout my life, I’ve considered becoming an interior decorator, a graphic designer, photographer, artist, lawyer, and at one stage I almost started medical school! But nothing could ever get me quite as excited as the skincare industry did.
I completed my three-year diploma in Health and Skincare with Spa Management at the Isa Carstens Academy in Stellenbosch. As most of us in the industry, I followed adventure onto a luxury cruise liner where I worked as the Ionithermie specialist (a specialised detox and body contouring treatment).
I swam with dolphins in Mexico, learned to hula in Hawaii, tasted the best Vodka in Russia, paddled through the fjords in Norway and saw enough museums across Europe to last you a lifetime!
Once back in our beautiful country, I was offered a position in an international resort in the Garden Route for 2 years. The entire Garden Route is such a magical place, so I chose to stay a little longer and was also a skin therapist at a small clinic for another year.
My heart will always be in the winelands and I came back to work with a very special friend who owns her own skin clinic in Stellenbosch. Eventually, I was recruited by the Isa Carstens Academy to manage their Wellness Sanctuary, a very unique salon where the students get to experience the real side of working in a business environment. During my 3 years as a lecturer there, I also completed my Advanced Diploma in Dermal Aesthetics.
Medical skincare has always been my core passion and when I was offered the opportunity to manage one of the prestigious branches of a well-known medical aesthetic company in Cape Town it was a dream come true! The experience and knowledge you obtain from working in a fast-paced medical environment is unparalleled to any other in the industry…well, according to me anyway!
After another 3 years, we decided to trade the sparkling city lights for beautiful sea and mountain views and moved to Somerset West where I started Lilium Aesthetics.
If you stay long enough I’ll get you as excited about skincare as I am!
